Growing up in this neighborhood in Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), I always knew it was a special place filled with warmth and community spirit. Though I've since moved to the United States, my heart has never left home. For the past five years, I've been supporting my community by providing materials to fight the relentless erosion that threatens our land and homes.
However, the situation has taken a dire turn. My family and my dear friend, who is disabled, is facing the unimaginable. Their home, a place of memories and comfort, is now at the mercy of relentless erosion. The erosion has not only taken away their sense of security but is also threatening to displace them from the only home they've ever known. Rainwater that is not channeled is the main cause of this.
This is a plea for help. Our community needs urgent assistance to combat this erosion and protect vulnerable homes like my friend's. With your support, we can provide the necessary materials and resources to fortify our land and save these precious homes.
